Gideon's Bakehouse Review

We are going to Orlando again to explore someplace new, Gideon's Bakehouse in Disney Springs! Are we going to find a new favorite or is it over hyped?

So if you want to assure you can get their goodies you have to get there pretty early. My party got there at 9:30am, where the parking lot opens at 9am and Gideon's opens at 10am. Automatic plus for Disney Springs is that parking is free and plenty, also love those markers over spaces to indicate if a space is open, amazing use of technology 👌 When my party walked up, there was already a line wrapped around the building 🤯 The website says that if the line gets too long they will switch to a virtual que so that you can go do other stuff, but I wouldn't risk it if Gideon's is on your 'Must Do' list. We waited around 40 minutes to get in, which wasn't bad. But it would be nice if they added a shade or something so we weren't in full sun. On a February day in Florida it was fine, but a summer day would have been a nightmare. They also give you a paper menu to keep so you automatically get a little souvenir and it gives you plenty of time to decide what you want.
The decor is really cool and there is a small que inside so you get a moment to look at everything before ordering and being pushed back out 😂 They have merchandise to buy that is on display as well as a display of the cookies and other sweets. Let's get into what tempted me 😋
Key Lime Cake

Something to know about me, I LOVE key lime pie. I am very serious about it. Just like red velvet cake can be easily messed up, so can key lime pie. It's easy to have too much lime flavor or just overwhelm it with sugar, you get the idea. I got this item since I was intrigued by the idea of key lime cake. Well unfortunately I would not recommend Gideon's Key Lime Pie Cake. It was incredibly dry and just didn't taste good, which is horrendous for an $11 cake slice. The flavor had way too little lime and an overwhelming amount of graham cracker taste (which probably made it so dry). A skip in my book.
Valentina’s Cake

After the key lime cake, I was super hesitant about Gideon's funky red velvet cake. But I was happily relieved that this one was really good! It's an interesting take on a traditional red velvet cake, with marshmallow fluff mixed in with the cream cheese frosting that tastes like a mix of ice cream cake and cookies and cream. Very rich, couldn't finish it even though I really wanted to!
Peanut Butter Cookie
On to the famous Gideon's Bakehouse cookies!! I got a peanut butter one since it seemed safe, not too weird and hard to screw up honestly 😅 It was good, a large cookie about the size of my palm with peanut butter chips covering the outside of it. The middle was very soft, which I enjoy since I'm not a crispy cookie kinda person. The one disappointment was that I heard there was frosting dips you get (which sounded AMAZING) but they didn't have any when I went 😭
My overall opinion of Gideon's Bakehouse is that it is over hyped and really not worth the hassle to get the baked goods. Drop any of your suggestions for better cookie places down below 🍪
