Gummy Candy Round Up

I have wanted to try Rotten's candy for FOREVER as I kept getting advertised for them. A lower calorie nerd cluster alternative? I'm interested 🤔 But they have had long shipping times and I never pulled the trigger. Imagine my surprise when I saw them at Lowe's! Given this opportunity, I finally grabbed them and wanted to share my thoughts in case you wanted to know what they taste like (plus stick to the end for a surprise super star that wasn't even supposed to be here, but stole the show!)

Rotten Original Gummy Cruncheez

They are...okay. Not great taste. Not bad, just not great. The gummy center is a little tougher than in a nerds rope or cluster, which wasn't a turn off. The 'nerds' pieces that Rotten has is where the deviation really happens. The candy was softer than nerds and less flavorful. They were also sorta greasy? I don't know if that's 100% right, but it's the closest I can describe it. The color is pretty off putting too, which I guess is because Rotten uses all natural coloring. If the artificial coloring matters to you then I guess you might be able to look past the muted colors, but to me it just made the greasy candy pieces that much more off putting.

The real issue I have with Rotten's candy is the price. It was $4 for a tiny bag that is a little less than 2oz. That's insane. At that price, these things would have to blow nerds clusters out of the water and they just don't. I would skip it and don't believe the advertisement.

Rotten Sour Gummy Cruncheez

Same gripes as the original flavor, but not sour when they are supposed to be sour. Basically a war crime. Unforgivable. Hard pass.

Okay so I wasn't a fan of Rotten's candy and I was going to just leave the review at that, but I found some interesting gummy worms at Walmart and figured we could try those too!

1UP Blasted Mini Sour Worms

These are my new favorite gummy candy. They are sooo good! With a blue raz mini sour worm base and topped with sour candy bits, it is perfection 😍 Now, bear in mind, they are sour. That is totally fine with me because I love sour stuff, but if that's not your jam you won't want to try these as it does what it says on the tin so to say.

Something great I noticed is that they don't use high fructose corn syrup, they use sugar. This might not seem like a huge thing, but as a candy eater, one notices that you start get to an upset stomach when eating gummies with high fructose corn syrup no matter how much restraint you show. Real sugar doesn't give the same results, you actually feel okay eating it. Now of course you will hurt yourself if you eat the whole bag at once 😅 It is also cost effective, at $3.49 a bag it is comparable to Nerds Clusters for price. I highly recommend 1UP Blasted Mini Sour Worms!
